3LPE Coating Density

3-Layer Polyethylene Coating or as referred to by its short-form, 3LPE consists of a multilayer setting, wherein the pipes consist of three layers. Layer one consists of a high-performance Fusion Bonded Epoxy or shortened as FBE primer. The layer of primer is followed by another copolymer layer, which acts as an adhesive. And lastly, the final outermost layer consists of polyethylene. The outermost polyethylene layer is what provides the 3LPE Coating Pipe with tough and durable protection.

3LPE Pipe Coating Process

The production of 3LPE Pipe is to conform to standard ISO 21809. This particular standard caters to the natural gas and petroleum industry, wherein the pipes are used for the conveyance of fluid or gas across refineries to sites. The coating process begins by cleaning the pipe to remove any previous residue, followed by the application of the primer via a fusion bonding method. Once the adhesive copolymer layer has coated the primer, the extruded polyethylene layer is applied after which manufacturers cure the pipe in order to seal the ISO 21809 3LPE External Coating.

  • Layer 1: This is a layer is of fusion bonded epoxy used for good corrosion protection.
  • Layer 2: Secon layer is the copolymer adhesive and has good chemical bonding with both layesr of fusion bonded epoxy (FBE) and the top layer polyethylene.
  • Layer 3: This top layer is consists of polyethylene to bond well with each other
