What is the difference between galvanized and hot dipped galvanized pipe ?

Although both these terms are interchangeably used to describe an ASTM A106 galvanized pipe, Galvanization is a process that could be performed at either a cool or hot temperature. Typically, a hot-dip process is preferred by many manufacturers as heat improves the fluidity of the liquid zinc and makes it uniform. Is hot dip galvanized seamless steel pipe rust proof?

While most high-end steel grades have chemistry that delays the onset of rusting, this is a common feature of low-cost grades. However, this is a problem that could be modified with galvanization.
