Difference Between Inconel 825 and Incoloy 825

Incoloy 825®, with its higher ferrous content and correspondingly lower cost, make it the ideal material in elevated temperature, but less critical, applications. A further feature is its relative ease of fabrication, employing the same machines and processes used for stainless steel.

Incoloy 825 also known as Inconel 825, its comes in a variety of grades, whose emphasis is more on resistance to aggressive forms of corrosion, particularly in aqueous environments. Whereas a basic form of Incoloy will find widespread general use, further alloying with enhancing elements provides added resistance to chemical and environmental corrosion, as well as physical deterioration, such as surface pitting and cracking.

Excellent resistance to seawater, brine, sour gas and high chloride environments make it a popular choice in the oil and gas industries. The most specialized Incoloy® alloys 825, however, are mainly used in the harshest chemical environments of all, involving among others, acids, wet scrubbing, nuclear fuel and the reactive atmospheres of furnaces.

Incoloy 825 alos known as Inconel 825. Its is an alloy formulated of Nickel, Chromium and Iron with extension of Molybdenum, Copper and Titanium. The alloy 825 invented to contribute exceptional resistance to many corrosive environments and reducing environments that acquire sulphuric acid and phosphoric acid. The nickel content in the alloy is acceptable for the resistance to chloride ion and stress corrosion cracking. The alloy 825 has exceptional anti- oxidation and non-oxidizing heat acid performance. The titanium content in the alloy sustains to resists intergranular attack after fabrication and pitting. The alloy 825 has good welability by all conventional mechanism.
