What is 3LPP Coated Pipe?

Coatings are a means of providing some form of security or protection to the pipes. Essentially a multilayer coating, 3-Layer Polypropylene or also known as 3LPP Pipe Coating comprises of three functional components.

3LPP Coating Steel Pipe Process

The initial layer of a 3 Layer Polypropylene Coating includes the application of a high-performance Fusion Bonded Epoxy primer or in short an FBE primer via fusion bonding. The next step is the application of a copolymer, which acts as an adhesive. The final step of this process consists of an outer coat of polypropylene. While the inner 3LPP Coating is what prevents chemical damage or decay, it is the outer coat that provides the material with good toughness making it the most durable coating solutions possible.

On the other hand, there are several procedures which could be used to repair the 3lpp Field Joint Coating including the use of products such as CRP-PP Repair Patch, or the PP Adhesive Filler or even the PP Melt Stick/Strip.
